| OFFICE | CANDIDATE | NOTES |
| PRESIDENT | MICHAEL BADNARIK | Michael Badnarik is the only non-socialist running for office that doesn't support the President's war in Iraq. He is the only candidate that doesn't support the government spending more than it makes. He best represents Libertarian values in every regard. |
| VICE PRESIDENT | RICHARD CAMPAGNA | |
| US SENATE |
JIM GRAY | |
| US Representative District 3 | ART TUMA | |
| US Representative District 4 | (NO OPINION) | DOOLITTLE HAS DONE FAR TOO MUCH! LIBERTARIANS ARE BADLY NEEDED TO RUN FOR THIS OFFICE. You should email JOHN DOOLITTLE on a consistent basis to advocate Libertarian principles. Despite his advocacy, DOOLITTLE HAS FALLEN FAR FROM THE LIBERTARIAN TREE and actually runs the county through his network of campaign contributions filtered down to the City level from developer special interests. He helped to promote the Skull and Bones War in Iraq and supports our socialist president too completely. Don't be surprised when he ADVOCATES A WAR IN IRAN AND THE DRAFT if Iran doesn't disarm itself. Developer money has made Placer County lopsided and its government no longer represents its people. It has become authoritarian, representing this neo-conservative Christian-Right Republican. I have to swallow hard when I say that we would have been far better off with Mark Norberg who ran as a Democrat last time. Our best hope would have been Alan Roberts who chose not to run against King John this time. See article KING JOHN. |
State Senate District 1 |
ROBERTO LEIBMAN | |
| State Senate District 3 | DAVID RHODES |
|
| State Assembly District 1 | KENNETH ANTON |
|
| State Assembly District 3 | ROBERT BURK | |
| State Assembly District 9 | GALE MORGAN | |
| Placer County Supervisor 3rd District | JIM HOLMES | Since the Supervisors have been primarily funded by business and development and are more or less controlled by John Doolittle, they tend to not look out for the interest of the people of their communities. They like edification and selling bonds that increase our debt burden on the children. They don't seem to care if we run out of roads, water and schools in their march to build and develop every square inch of Placer County. Ted Gaines laughs when I ask him to leave a few areas zoned for Libertarians. In this race, we see Alice Dowdin, a pleasant Republican Auburn councilwoman and past Auburn Mayor. Unfortunately, we follow the money and we see the infamous John Doolittle's smiling face with all the kings men backing her. Remember, he's the guy that actually ran from Michael Moore in Fahrenheit 911! See article KING JOHN. Towards the bottom, you'll see much of the Supervisor's money. The incumbents absolutely have not worked for the citizens. Instead, they have sold citizens on what they have done and are about to do. To those citizens, I have some property for sale on a proposed lake in Auburn that will be filled when they build the Auburn Dam. The citizens, for the most part, have not got a clue as to what has been going down. Sure, they feel the traffic and overcrowding and see the drizzle from their faucets, but they just don't make the connection between those things and a Board that has been bought and paid for by the developers and big,big business. To add insult to injury, the Board all endorsed publicly the socialist Francis Bellemy's Pledge of Allegiance and the "under God" clause that the government added later. This certainly demonstrates their indoctrination and lack of understanding of what the founding fathers were up to–in other words a government that for the first time would pledge its allegiance to the people and not the other way around? Of course why would they ever do that? They don't know how this has led to our socialism and totalitarian state. They simply aren't that smart! They are also big spenders promoting wasteful programs and feel vindicated when raised sales and property taxes have bailed them out, as though they had done a great job–which they have not. Sadly, this Libertarian has to admit that lacking candidates for this office, a Democrat or two might give some chance of balance. Thank goodness for the Independent candidate Jim Holmes. We all should be attending Supervisor Meetings and speaking out against their spending habits. Remember, you are up against Doolittle and developer money that tends to fund campaigns. This shouldn't be the case with Holmes. LIBERTARIANS ARE BADLY NEEDED TO RUN FOR PLACER COUNTY SUPERVISOR NEXT TIME. Independents may be better than Alice, but a Libertarian would be better still. |
| Placer County Board of Education Trustee Area 1,3,4,5 | TBD | The Board of Education has been dominated by neo conservative, christian right-wing Republicans that are somewhat authoritarian and unconstitutional in their recommendations. No hats because it represents gangs that the supervisor claims are not in our schools anyway??? Locked gates everywhere, making our schools look more and more like the overcrowded State Prisons? They apparently have endorsed unconstitutional search and seizure with drug sniffing dogs nosing around the schools that probably ought to be sniffing the teachers lockers or for that fact the Board of Education meetings because I just know they must be smoking something. Their campaigns have probably been funded by the supporters of "draft promoting" John Doolittle that is all ready to go to war against Iran. Fine thing to have war mongerers supervising our schools where many kids are more than ready to go over seas to defend Haliburton, the oil and their non-willing to fight mommy and daddy's SUV's. Recruiters on campus enlisting the kids while mommy and daddy are working sounds great, doesn't it? I have yet to follow all the money behind these folks. However, when I see another Republicanized over crowed school system, I usually can smell a developer in the background. Help me out on this if you know. LIBERTARIANS ARE BADLY NEEDED IN THIS AREA. PLAN ON RUNNING NEXT TIME. FOR NOW, CALL THEIR HOME OR BUSINESS AND ADVOCATE YOUR VIEW AT MEETINGS. |
| CITY COUNCILS | Can be reached at home or office by phone. |
In Placer County, you can sense that the councils are often more or less controlled by Congressman John Doolittle. You'll find the same contributors listed over and over again. I believe that often the candidates are more interested in the interests of the contributors than in the interest of the people of their communities. This is part of the reason why in attending almost 20 sessions, I have never noticed anything other than a unanimous vote! The county and the cities within currently enjoy the increase in property taxes that accompanied the inflated home values. Bonds can and have been paid off early. Roads can now be repaired and there is a temptation to start and grow all types of special projects to beautify or grow the community and its government services. Commitments made by the Supervisors and Councilmen today will impact communities for generations to come. Often, their projects will be paid for by those same upcoming generations that were not even able to vote for those that determined their futures. The quantity of "redistribution of wealth" programs in Placer County is alarming. It shows that Republicans are also socialists with a capital S. In fact, even with Republicans in charge of Congress and the Presidency, we can see the greatest social spending in US history. This is the real cause of inflation in our food, gasoline, construction and property values. Because of the irresponsible over spending, County residents can expect to see price increases for fundamental city services. Despite the darkening clouds, the current Republican council members seem oblivious and are still spending money and promoting bonds. Through these Republicans, government is attempting to influence business development by projects that edify cities like Rocklin. The web of City, County and State projects are complicated and intimidating. The web promotes itself. We the people are taught to take advantage of government grants and matching funds that were taken from us in the form of Federal or State taxes. If we want our money back, we must jump as high as the Federal or State governments ask us to. It affects our roads, our main streets and our schools. Meanwhile, the Feds and State steal a little or a lot of money to compensate themselves for what they call overhead and for what I call totalitarianism. Furthermore, the selling of bonds increases the debt burden on the children. Rocklin has even opened the door for imminent domain where the City of Rocklin can take your property without your permission in the name of "social (or business) welfare." What Can Joe Citizen Do?
Remember, promoting business is not the job of the city or county! Let business promote themselves. They will do a far better job and cost the tax payers nothing!!! Socialism is never good, even if it is Republican branded socialism. Businesses will come anyway if they know our cost of living is kept lower through governments that don't over spend and encumber the future. If you are Running for City Council As a candidate, you may email your stance to me so we can weigh your stance against Libertarian principles. If you are for growing government, encumbering the youth further by selling bonds, or adding bureaucracy and services, you can pretty much count yourself off my recommendation list. Voters should not simply accept the status quo by reinstalling Republican and Democratic incumbents. You need to draw your own line in the sand despite what your neighbor does. In Conclusion When it comes to City Council positions, "Joe Average" seldom votes at all. Often, Joe knows nothing about candidates. Without an R or D beside the candidates' names, Joe gets confused and makes silly choices. Don't be a "Joe Average." So far, I cannot endorse any candidates for City Council. Sadly, there are no Libertarians running this year. Perhaps you'll let me know if you want to run as the "Little Government" candidate next time? |
| PROPOSITION | RECOMMENDED VOTE |
REASON |
| Prop 59 -- Access to government information. |
YES |
This was a unanimous bipartisan measure to imbed statutory guarantees of open government (mostly for local governments and local agencies) into the state Constitution. |
| Prop 60 -- Primary elections. |
YES |
Would nullify the Open Primary Initiative (Prop 62) if it
received more votes. [NOTE: A court order has split the original Proposition 60 into two separate measures, Propositions 60 and 60a.] |
| Prop 60a -- Surplus state property. |
YES |
Would use the sale of surplus state property to pay off bonds. |
| Prop 61 -- Children's Hospital Projects. Grant Program. Bond
Act. |
NO |
Not a proper function of government, and the taxpayers do not need more bond debt. |
| Prop 62 -- Elections. Primaries. |
NO |
Would destroy minor parties and limit voters choices in the general election. A much better solution is Instant Runoff Voting. |
| Prop 63 -- Mental Health Services Expansion and Funding.
Tax on Incomes over $1 Million. |
NO |
Not a proper function of government, and taxpayers don't need to be further burdened with more taxes. |
| Prop 64 -- Limitations on Enforcement of Unfair Business
Competition Laws. |
YES |
This would limit shakedown lawsuits in which lawyers sue businesses for trivial matters that don't even have victims, and thereby force businesses to settle rather than endure the horrendous expense of a trial. |
| Prop 65 -- Local Government Funds and Revenues. State Mandates. |
YES |
Prevents state government from raiding revenues intended for local governments and agencies, which in turn leads to "back door" local tax hikes. |
| Prop 66 -- Limitations on "Three Strikes" Law.
Sex Crimes. Punishment. |
YES |
Sentence enhancements should be limited to violent crimes. The current law can put non-violent criminals who commit victimless crimes away for life. |
| Prop 67 -- Emergency and Medical Services. Funding. Telephone
Surcharge. |
NO |
Not a proper function of government, and taxpayers don't need to be further burdened with more taxes. |
| Prop 68 -- Tribal Gaming Compact Renegotiation. Non-Tribal
Commercial Gambling Expansion. Revenues, Tax Exemptions. |
NO POSITION |
Reduces some restrictions on gambling but also creates new monopolies for race tracks and card clubs. |
| Prop 69 -- DNA Samples. Collection. Database. Funding. |
NO |
An invasion of privacy for those people who are arrested but not convicted of a crime. |
| Prop 70 -- Tribal Gaming Compacts. Exclusive Gaming Rights.
Contributions to State. |
NO POSITION |
Reduces some restrictions on gambling but also extends monopolies for Indian tribes. |
| Prop 71 -- Stem Cell Research. Funding. Bonds. |
NO |
Not a proper function of government, and the taxpayers do not need more bond debt. |
| Prop 72 -- Referendum Petition to Overturn Amendments to
Health Care Coverage Requirements. |
NO |
A "NO" vote will reverse the new mandate that requires California businesses to provide health insurance for their employees. |
